Taipa’s Cycle Path System
The goal was to connect the existing cycling track along Zona de Lazer da Marginal da Taipa to the Pista de Bicicletas 'Flor de Lotus.' To create an access point for boats, the embankment had to be separated and connected via a fixed bicycle bridge. On the other side, a Bascule (folding) bridge was necessary to close an existing gap and accommodate yachts with high sails.
The landscape design concept aims to create an undulating space that blends seamlessly into the environment. The extended viewing platform outside the rock embankment offers additional experiential connection to the sea. This is reflected in the floor pattern of the area, which mimics the gradient of waves washing over coastline. The design of the bicycle bridge is simple and minimal, so as not to visually impact the area. The plan is divided into active and quiet zones. The cycling track and all sports-related areas are part of the active zone, while the quiet zone features picnic spots and a viewing platform overlooking the Hengqin area.
